Visitor Information

Opening Times

Open Tuesday - Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays, 10.00am - 5.00pm, April - October. Closed on Mondays (except for Bank Holidays). Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time. Please note: Some areas of Southsea Castle may be closed or inaccessible for operational purposes.

Café: Our café is now closed until 2015.

Education and Groups: For all enquiries and group visits please telephone (023) 9283 4744 / 4737 or click here to email us, stating your name, school contact details, number/age of children, which museum/exhibition/workshop you are interested in and your preferred dates/times.

Car parking: Car and coach pay and display parking is available near the museum, including in the D-Day Museum car park, and on Clarence Esplanade and the Avenue de Caen. To find out about current car parking charges in Portsmouth, please click here. Prices and availability of parking spaces may vary between different locations.

Travelling by public transport: Southsea Castle is roughly the same distance from both Portsmouth Harbour, and Portsmouth & Southsea train stations. There are taxi ranks at both stations and a number of frequent buses that will drop you off close to the castle. Dogs: Well behaved dogs are permitted in the café courtyard only.
