Opening Times

Open Tuesday - Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays, 10.00am - 5.00pm, April - October.
Closed on Mondays (except for Bank Holidays).
Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time.
Please note: Some areas of Southsea Castle may be closed or inaccessible for operational purposes.

Bupa Great South Run Weekend 25th & 26th October 2014 -  Important Information

This weekend sees Portsmouth host the Great South Run, a major event for the city. There are a number of road closures over the weekend so please make sure you check these before travelling and add some extra time for your journey. You can find all the details of road closures in the city here. The D-Day Museum and Overlord Embroidery, Cumberland House Natural History Museum, Southsea Castle and Portsmouth Museum are all located along the route of the 10 mile race on Sunday 26th October. The D-Day Museum and Southsea Castle are located along the route of the 5k and mini runs on Saturday 25th October.

Café: Our café is now closed until 2015.

Education and Groups: For all enquiries and group visits please telephone (023) 9283 4744 / 4737 or click here to email us, stating your name, school contact details, number/age of children, which museum/exhibition/workshop you are interested in and your preferred dates/times  If enquiring at weekends or when the museum's group department is unavailable, please contact Southsea Castle directly.

Car parking: Car and coach pay and display parking is available near the museum, including in the D-Day Museum car park, and on Clarence Esplanade and the Avenue de Caen. Travelling by public transport: Southsea Castle is roughly the same distance from both Portsmouth Harbour, and Portsmouth & Southsea train stations. There are taxi ranks at both stations and a number of frequent buses that will drop you off close to the castle. Dogs: Well behaved dogs are permitted in the café courtyard only.
